EEOC issues guidance on religious bias

Comprehensive new EEOC guidance will help employers comply with federal law prohibiting religious discrimination in the workplace. The guidance was issued in response to a doubling of religious bias claims filed with the agency between 1992 and 2007. It includes a new compliance manual section, fact sheet, and list of best practices addressing the definitions of religion and religious harassment, the exceptions for clergy and religious organizations, the obligation of employers to accommodate employees' religious beliefs, and other topics.  (Select News, 23 Jul 2008)
