Connecticut's Insurance Department has finalized its questions and answers on recent legislation expanding the dependent definition. The guidance mostly mirrors a draft circulated in July and clarifies several aspects of the new law. Group health plans issued or renewed on or after Jan. 1, 2009, must continue coverage for an employee's unmarried child to the end of the month when the child turns 26 or, if earlier, when the child moves out of state, ceases to be a full-time student or becomes covered under a group health plan through the child's own employment.
